Nominator's project description
| Professor Tumbar is a leading authority on adult stem cells with emphasis on the mechanisms that control stem cell fate in the skin. She was the first to isolate and transcriptionally characterize hair follicle stem cells, and discovered novel transcriptional and epigenetics regulators that control adult stem cell behavior in health and disease. In Germany, Professor Tumbar will determine how mechanical cues through adhesion and polarity proteins control transcriptional and epigenetic networks in the skin. |
